Photography
Solvexia's visual language uses photographs strategically to both convey emotion and enhance the meaning of accompanying content.
Here are some tips on how to choose the right photography.
Natural and authentic
Photographs should steer clear of being overly posed or excessively emotional. Choose more natural, understated, or authentic imagery.
Avoid people looking directly at camera
This helps to create a sense of candidness and draws the viewer into the scene as an observer rather than being directly addressed. It fosters a more immersive and less confrontational experience, contributing to the overall natural and understated aesthetic.
Avoid being too formal
Images should convey warmth and relatability, fostering a connection with the audience rather than presenting a distant or rigid perspective. This could involve less rigid framing, more candid compositions, and environments that feel lived-in and natural.
Use natural filters
When it comes to post-processing, the emphasis is on enhancing the natural qualities of the image. Therefore, useing natural filters is crucial. This means avoiding heavily stylized, artificial, or overtly dramatic filters. Instead, adjustments should subtly enhance colors, light, and contrast to make the image more appealing while retaining its inherent realism and warmth. The aim is for the filters to be imperceptible, making the image look inherently beautiful rather than obviously processed.
This advice, however, does not apply to all situations when ,for example, the filters bring additional impact contextually.
Use metaphors
Beyond merely showing what is, a photograph can be a metaphor, imbuing its subject with deeper, symbolic meaning. But metaphors should be subtle and not too obvious.
Avoid overused stock images
To maintain uniqueness and avoid generic impressions, we explicitly avoid overused stock images. Our visuals should feel fresh and distinct. This means seeking out original photography, diverse subjects, and less conventional perspectives, ensuring that our visual assets are a unique fingerprint of the Solvexia brand, rather than a common wallpaper.
